The ESG Report 2026 – Portrait of Mining in the Amazon brings together, for the first time, environmental, social and governance indicators from 10 member companies, with a 2025 base year.
The Mining Industry Union of the State of Pará (SIMINERAL) is publishing the ESG Report 2026 – Portrait of Mining in the Amazon, the first report of the Carta Santarém initiative, built through a partnership between mining companies in Pará and the public sector. The publication consolidates data reported by 10 member companies, national public databases and international references such as ICMM, IFC, GRI and the GHG Protocol, and is available in Portuguese and English.
In 2025, mineral production in Pará exceeded 300 million tonnes, about 27% of Brazil’s output. The value of the State’s mineral production was estimated at R$ 103 billion, approximately 34.5% of the country’s mining revenue, and CFEM collections reached about R$ 3.1 billion, equivalent to 39% of the national total.

On the environmental pillar, member companies maintain approximately 786,000 hectares of protected, conserved or monitored areas, a ratio of about 10 hectares for each hectare directly impacted by mining. The average water reuse rate reached 75%, a 45-percentage-point increase over ten years, and about 85% of electricity consumed in operations comes from renewable sources.
On the social pillar, approximately 72% of direct and outsourced workforce is hired in Pará, and about 50% of supplier spending remains in the State. Social investments totalled R$ 213 million in mandatory initiatives and more than R$ 1.7 billion in voluntary investments. The lost-time injury frequency rate was 0.73 per million hours worked.
On governance, the report brings together indicators on tailings management, emergency preparedness and ESG commitments: 90% of companies have an Emergency Action Plan in place and 100% have at least one corporate policy related to ESG.
“For the first time, we present an integrated view of progress in Pará’s mining across environmental, social and governance dimensions, showing that competitiveness and responsibility go hand in hand.”
Anderson Baranov, Chairman of the SIMINERAL Board of Directors
“Making this data available to society reinforces the public commitment to transparency and to the sustainable development of the Amazon. It is also an invitation for other production chains in the region to follow the same path.”
Emerson Rocha, Executive President of SIMINERAL
Carta Santarém is a starting point: this first report establishes a baseline to track, in each new cycle, the evolution of environmental, social and governance practices in mining in Pará.
